Hello 2016!

Happy New Year 2016! We hope that you had a very pleasant holiday with your loved ones!

From this semester onwards, we would like to use the CSA Blog as an additional portal to give you an up-to-date view of China and the Chinese culture—cuisine, cinema, and stories about cities, to name but a few. We also hope that you will get to know more about us—our members, our events, and our missions and goals.

For the past four months, we have conducted five major events: Moon Festival Party, annual General Member Assembly, Pool Tournament, Blend-me-In Party and Christmas Gala. All these events were quite a success—they well exemplified our raison d’être, which is to bring people from different cultures together. We are also glad to see that we have attained a group of loyal participants already. For the upcoming months, we will focus on expanding our audience base and possibly creating new events.

We have also organized the Dutch and Mandarin Language Courses for about the 18th time, since its initial establishment in 2005. We have achieved a record high number of enrolment for the first cycle started in late September, 2015. Our smaller and more interactive classes will indeed make the learning process more enjoyable. Most students are satisfied with the content and quality of our courses. We will share some stories of our teachers and students here in the next few blogs! The second cycle of our language courses is approaching! Attend the trial classes on 7th and 12th January. Our teachers will be there to answer any question you may have!

January is a special month in almost every culture. It’s both the start of a new year and the tail of the winter. For us, January is always the month full of excitement. China in Focus, our flagship event will take place from 19th to 22nd this month with a jam-packed schedule of business- and culture-related activities. This year, we have brought in speakers from almost every filed of business, ranging from PwC, the largest international assurance service provider, to Lenovo, a multinational PC designer and manufacturer based in Beijing, China and North Carolina, USA. On top of that, we have also prepared three inhouse days with Bank of China, PostNL and Meeus, a Dutch insurance and pension advisory service provider. We hope that China in Focus 2016 will amaze you with a brand new perceptive on China and the Chinese. Also, keep in mind that everyone can sign up free of charge!

Shortly after January, the CSA will take you to the south of China. The destinations of Study Trip 2016 are Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou—three most important metropolitans with a strong heritage of the Guangfu culture, which developed mainly in the Pearl River Delta over 2,000 years ago. These three cities share distinctive local attributes in language, cuisine and mentality and are among the first in China to start modernization. This year, we will visit both the landmarks and spearhead companies of these cities.

Again, we hope that you will enjoy the CSA Blog. If you have any question about us, please write to us on Facebook or to info@csa-eur.nl. Alternatively, you can find our stand in the Theil building and our office at the N building. We just can’t wait to welcoming you at China in Focus 2016 and other CSA events!

Take care and keep in touch!
