All the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will be donated to our charity of choice ‘Stichting Tien Yan’. Stichting Tien Yan is a non-profit organization that aims to create a platform where Chinese migrants, the descendants of migrants, vulnerable people and the elderly, can develop their talents and use these in Dutch society. They strive to reduce social isolation of Chinese elderly people by (1) accommodating them into Dutch society, (2) promoting self-resilience and helping them stay in contact with the society, and (3) to strengthen their self-esteem.

We, Stichting Tien Yan, are a non-profit organization that strives to reduce social isolation of (Chinese) elderly people. Chinese elderly people have become very socially isolated because they have never really had to participate in Dutch society for years. Chinese elderly people have often spent years and long days in the kitchens of Chinese restaurants. There was no immediate need, but also no possibility, to really master the Dutch language, which is why they do not master the language in their old age, despite the fact that most of them have lived in the Netherlands for a long time.
As these elderly people get older, they dare to go outside less often. They also need more and more help, but they do not ask for it. This is partly due to shame, but also because they do not want to be a burden to others. Not even their own children. This means that they just sit at home (without help). Because they speak little or no Dutch, they are often unable to use existing care and assistance, which is aimed at breaking loneliness, dementia and other diseases. It is a vulnerable group in Dutch society that requires attention in terms of self-reliance.

The YAN’s snow mochi & more is the first snow mochi home bakery based in Rotterdam, specialized in making fresh cream mochis.
