This year, we are headed to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong! Southern China offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation, where ancient history meets cutting-edge technology. Participants will explore Guangzhou’s rich culture and history, dive into Shenzhen’s world of innovation and technology, and experience the vibrant energy of Hong Kong where East meets West. This is a chance to discover the best of both worlds in one incredible trip! From visiting prestigious universities to engaging with forward-thinking companies, this trip is your chance to discover the pulse of Asia’s booming industries and rich cultures.

The city of Guangzhou is the beating heart of the Pearl River Delta. Known as the “southern gate of China”, with Hong Kong and Macao as its neighbors. Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, has been one of China’s most important port cities and commercial centers since it was the departure point on the Maritime Silk Road during the Tang Dynasty.
Once a small village, Shenzhen has stunned the world with its transformation into China’s Silicon Valley. The city serves as a customs stop into mainland China from Hong Kong as it rapidly developed into one of China’s first specialized economic zones. This influenced the rapid economic growth and attracted significant foreign and domestic investments. Known for its “Shenzhen speed,” the city quickly developed into a hub for industries like electronics, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.
Hong Kong, a vibrant special administrative region of China, is renowned for its stunning skyline, bustling harbor, and fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. Known for its strategic trade location, it evolved from a British colony to a major global financial and commercial center.
The Study Trip will occur from the 7th of May until the 19th of May. The trip will start in Guangzhou. From there, we will take a train to Shenzhen, and finally conclude the trip in Hong Kong. Throughout the trip, we will be visiting several companies and universities.
The price for our Study Trip 2025 is €1299,- for general CSA-EUR members and €1399,- for non CSA-EUR members. The price includes all the flight tickets, transportation between cities, transportation cards, accommodations throughout your stay, entrance tickets to various historic sights, participation in business with multiple companies, and cultural activities organized by CSA-EUR.
Please note that the costs of the visa are NOT INCLUDED in this price.

Huawei, one of the leading technology companies in the world, recognized as a provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to visit the Huawei Ox Horn Campus in Dongguan, Guangdong province. This location houses the R&D department, where innovation drives the development of next-generation technology solutions.
Tencent, best known as the parent company of WeChat, a multifunctional app used for messaging, social media, and payment services, with over a billion users worldwide. Tencent also plays a significant role in the gaming industry, owning or investing in popular titles like League of Legends. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to experience a tour that provides insight into the company’s history, current standing, and innovations.
Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting, Signify is renowned for its cutting-edge technology, including smart lighting systems like Philips Hue and Li-Fi, which uses light waves for data transmission. During our visit, we will have the privilege to explore their Hong Kong office, which houses the WiZ smart lighting business unit. This unit specializes in cutting-edge software development for smart lighting solutions that cater to homes and businesses alike.
In Hong Kong, we will be visiting the Dutch consulate. The Dutch government’s consulate-generals serve to further represent the country’s administrative, diplomatic, and commercial support in specific cities of a foreign country. The consulate in Hong Kong serves to bolster these ties between the Netherlands and the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) is a Double-First Class Construction university centered in Guangzhou province but with several campuses across Guangdong province. SYSU is celebrated for its studies in medicine, biology, chemistry, and the intersection of these fields with economics or ecology.
The Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKU Shenzhen) is a satellite graduate school of China’s number-one university: Peking University. It is situated at Shenzhen’s university town, which also hosts Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology’s satellite schools. PKU Shenzhen offers a myriad of programs ranging from law to ecology.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is the oldest university in Hong Kong and one of the highest rated universities in the world. Rich in history, HKU is the pinnacle of tertiary education in Hong Kong and continues to be a leading institution in fields such as finance, economics, law, and medicine.
