1.5 years ago, I was just about to start my time as a university student. I didn’t know what my strengths were, and what direction I wanted to go. But there was one thing I knew for sure: “I want to learn and have fun”. That’s when I decided to join CSA, and become a Cultural Events Committee member in 2023-2024. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. CSA has been a community for me where I could try new things to challenge myself all the time, and I was blessed with awesome team members and an active community whom I made life-long memories with. And before I knew it, the year was over.
My initial goal didn’t change: I want to develop myself and go beyond my comfort zone. But now, I had a new objective: I want to create as big of a positive impact as possible on CSA with my own skills, ideas, and talents. That’s why I decided to become the Treasurer, a role with a ton of responsibilities and impact on all 4 pillars of the association.
It was not easy. I faced many challenges and set-backs. Sometimes I had more questions than answers: How can I become a better leader for my committee? What can I do to improve CSA’s finances? Gradually, I learned, grew and developed skills like project management, leadership, and communication. None of this was possible without an amazing education committee, board, audit, council, and all the actives within CSA’s. Thank you.
I fondly look back on my time as the Treasurer of CSA’s 21st board, and I would do it all over again if I had the chance. It truly was a journey of self-discovery, development, and connection. Maybe the real Treasure wasn’t the money, but the friends and memories we made along the way.
